The Figrig Team
Figrig consultants bring more than experience. Count on us to listen well, respond thoughtfully,
and treat you with consideration and respect. We understand that our best work is only possible with good communication.
Carter Stowell · Principal
Carter has served as principal of Figrig since establishing it in 1999. Working primarily with nonprofits, small businesses, and the arts community, he works as a consultant, information architect, web developer and project manager. Carter works alone or builds project teams that provide expertise in Web writing, interactive media, content management, and high-end design—specializations that add to long-term value. He works closely with clients to produce effective websites with intuitive controls and a better experience.
Beginning in 1997, Carter honed his skills at San Francisco's Wired Digital, Inc., managing site production for award-winning Wired News, writing articles for Webmonkey and Wired News, and engineering interfaces for the HotBot search engine, the Wired News/ HotBot Stocks site and Wired magazine. His educational background includes a B.S.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University.
Eric Eaton · Designer & Usability Consultant
Eric brings design acumen all too rare in the online realm. He is a practitioner devoted to craft and aesthetics, to usability and functionality. As design director at Wired, Eric redesigned the Hotbot search engine, the market leader in 1998. With five million daily visitors to Hotbot, every design detail counted then—and still counts now with every project undertaken.
In addition to his frequent contributions to Figrig, Eric is the principal of Deliberate Design in Portland, ME. His book, Designing Web Site Interface Elements (Dec 2002), offers advice for professional designers and developers who use design and branding to reach a target audience. Clients include FlyFi, Jeep, L.L. Bean, VSAC, Vermont College of Fine Arts, and many more.
